Power outage affects thousands in north Amarillo

Posted: Updated:

Amarillo, TX - After an hours-long early morning power outage in north Amarillo, the lights are now back on for residents.

The power went out just after 5:00 Monday morning affecting nearly 2,800 residents.

Xcel Energy says there were transmission issues on the line feeding the Cherry Street substation which caused low voltage issues.

Areas of north Amarillo near Cherry and River Road were without power until crews were able to switch to an alternative source Xcel says power was restored to all customers before 7:30.
